Study abroad in Dar es Salaam,Tanzania
The Center for African Studies at UF offers students the opportunity to earn credits toward their degree while spending a semester or academic year at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. The University of Dar es Salaam is structured around six colleges: Arts & Social Sciences, Commerce & Management, Education, Engineering, Law, and Science. The university also houses the Institute of Development Studies, the Institute of Marine Science, and the Institute of Kiswahili Research. Students can select courses in a wide variety of disciplines to meet their individual credit requirements.

Course Offerings
- Students are able to choose among all courses offered through the six colleges at the University of Dar es Salaam
- Seniors may develop an independent study project under the guidance of a UDSM professor and with consent from the dean of the appropriate college
Eligibility
- Undergraduates must have minimum GPA of 2.5
- UF and non-UF students in good standing
- Graduate students must have GPA of at least 3.0
- All applicants should have taken at least one three credit hour course in African Studies
- A Letter of recommendation is required
- A personal interview or telephone conference call may also be required
- Attendance at mandatory two-day predeparture orientation meeting held in Gainesville
