The cost of attending the summer institute is completely free! This program is sponsored by the Center for African Studies at the University of Florida. It is also partially funded by a Department of Education Title VI grant.
The only cost that the student and their parents will be responsible is for the meals of the student. The total price of the lunches during the two week long institute is approximately $80. We will make exceptions if a student and their parents can demonstrate hardship. We don't want to exclude any eligible participants from this wonderful learning experience!
There are texts and materials used at the summer institute. These learning materials are provided at no cost to the students.
This exciting program is held during the day for two weeks (a total of ten days; Monday through Friday during each week). It usually begins at the end of June and finishes up during the beginning of July.
After finishing the summer institute, students receive a University of Florida certificate of participation. Aside from the certificate, students will receive an experience of a lifetime! Don't miss this opportunity.
Students also get great exposure to the University of Florida's campus and culture. They meet professors from various departments and other University of Florida college students.
There are approximately twenty students chosen each summer to attend the institute. So get your applications in today!
