Welcome to the African Language Summer Institute for high school students at the University of Florida. In 2008, the Institute will be held on June 23 through July 3.
This exciting two-week program will introduce a select group of high school students to an African language and contemporary Africa. In the Summer 2008 the focus will be on SWAHILI, a language that is widely spoken in Central and Eastern Africa. Participation is free and all students will receive language materials and a certificate. Each participant will pay a lunch fee of $80 for the two weeks. Exceptions will be made in case of hardship. The program is sponsored by the Center for African Studies with funds provided by a Department of Education Title VI grant.
