Master of Sustainable Development Practice:
Managing Sustainable Development Globally
“Training a new generation of development
practitioners to address the complexities of
sustainable development in innovative ways.”
The Master of Sustainable Development Practice (MDP) Program at the University of Florida provides an interdisciplinary curriculum in the health, natural, social and management sciences through hands-on, practice-based learning. This broad core curriculum is complemented by the opportunity to specialize in a particular field of interest from the university’s diverse departments. The MDP Program is supported by numerous faculty members from over 7 schools and 20 different departments, centers and research institutions at the University of Florida.
The program prepares graduates to take integrated approaches to advancing economic opportunity, public health, political empowerment and environmental conservation in Latin America, Africa and other regions of the world. Graduates will take their position among development professionals in global nonprofits, private enterprises, governments and policy think tanks.

"One of my favorite things about the MDP program at UF was the broad interdisciplinary nature of the courses I took. I enjoyed the challenge of learning about so many different topics, especially through working closely with classmates from different disciplinary backgrounds. The relaxed, intimate environment of the students and faculty made it rewarding to work and learn together. I am interested in pursuing a career in program evaluation, and MDP has prepared me well for the diversity of programs I hope to work with in my future." |
