Michael Chege is director of the Center for African Studies, University
of Florida at Gainesville where he is also an associate professor of Political
Science. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley
and has taught at the University of Nairobi, Kenya and the Graduate Institute
of International Studies of the University of Geneva, Switzerland. He
worked for the Ford Foundation in Harare, Zimbabwe between 1988 and 1994
as the program officer in charge of public policy and international affairs
programs in Eastern and Southern Africa.
