African
Studies
Quarterly
Volume 1, Issue 2 (1997)
ISSN: 215-2448
In keeping with the growing trend in
African Studies, this issue of ASQ focuses on local issues and perceptions
with a special emphasis on Tanzania. Issue 2 includes two articles from
African scholars. The first, by Yusufu Lawi, explores alternative legal
structures through an analysis of Ward Tribunals. The second, by Joe
Lugalla, examines the impact of Structural Adjustment Policies on the
health of the poorest strata of Tanzanian society. Our newest department,
At Issue, also is in keeping with this theme, and addresses local level
authority in ecological decision-making. At Issue welcomes short commentaries,
opinion pieces, and reactions on diverse topics.
