INTENSIVE YORUBA IN NIGERIA
FULBRIGHT-HAYS GROUP PROJECTS ABROAD

An Intensive Advanced Yoruba Group Projects Abroad (hereafter Yoruba GPA) for summer 2008 is planned for Nigeria. The course will be held on the campus of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and directed by Dr Akíntúndé Akínyemí of the Department of African and Asian Languages and Literatures, University of Florida in Gainesville, through the university’s Center for African Studies.
The Fulbright-Hays GPA fellowship covers:
* round trip airfare from New York to Lagos
* program related transportation in Nigeria
* maintenance allowance for housing and food, cost of instruction and educational materials
The fellowship does not cover:
* $800 program fee
*transportation from participant’s home institution to New York City and return
*passport and visa processing fees, inoculations and other health care travel
Students will be expected to travel to Nigeria and return as a group. In the likely event that the program will only be able to provide participants with special group-rate (non-changeable, non-refundable) tickets, travel will only be possible on the selected dates. Any changes in reservation and travel dates and costs connected with them will be the responsibility of the student. Final travel dates will be announced at a later date.
